  • VPN: Test your VPN works on Chinese networks before you go

  • Cash: Bring ¥2000-3000 CNY in cash for small vendors and emergencies
  • Credit cards: Notify your bank of travel to China
  • Payment setup: Complete WeChat Pay/Alipay international card binding
  • Currency exchange: Exchange some cash at home (better rates than airports)

  • Prescription medications: Bring original prescriptions

  • Vaccinations: Routine vaccines up to date; hepatitis A/B recommended
